The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and domestic e-commerce company Flipkart have joined forces to expedite capacity building for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across India. Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States, owns Flipkart.
The partners also want to assist MSMEs in their efforts to join regional and international retail supply chains.
The agreement was signed in New Delhi during the Walmart Vriddhi Seller Summit, which marked the end of training for 20,000 MSMEs participating in the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Program (Walmart Vriddhi).
“During the pandemic, Walmart played a significant role in providing training and capacity building to MSMEs.”More than 110 million people are employed by the 63 million MSME businesses that today make up India. We anticipate Walmart continuing to help the nation’s expanding MSME sector, said Narayan Rane, India’s Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, in his remarks at the occasion.
According to Gaurang Dixit, Chairman-Cum-Managing Director at NSIC, through this alliance, MSMEs in India will be able to receive the assistance needed to grow their operations both domestically and internationally.
