Mike Young to lead Vedanta-Foxconn JV’s manufacturing operations

Vedanta-Foxconn Semiconductors Limited recently informed that the company has roped in SSMC’s Mike Young for the position of Senior Vice President of the Project Management Office and Manufacturing Operations.

The JV between the two companies is working to set up its first semiconductor fabrication facility in India.

Young, who has 34 years of front-end semiconductor manufacturing experience, will be in charge of supervising manufacturing and operational processes.

Young’s appointment comes at a time when the billionaire Anil Agarwal-led company is on a global talent acquisition drive to draw in leaders from the semiconductor industry.

Young joins Vedanta after a brief hiatus from his previous position as CEO of Singapore’s Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company (SSMC). Before SSMC, he held the position of CEO of X-FAB Sarawak in Malaysia.

Young has completed master’s degree in Microelectronics Engineering from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Aston University in the United Kingdom.

VFSL has been making appointments for quite some time. Recently, Vedanta roped in Lawrence (Wong Chee Yoong) as Senior Director – Human Resources in April, and industry veteran David Reed as CEO. The company also took on board IBM veteran Terry Daly as an Advisor.
