Suzlon crosses 20 GW installed windmills capacity worldwide

Suzlon Group, a producer of renewable energy solutions, declared on Monday that it had reached the landmark of 20 GW of installed wind turbine capacity globally. 

‘Suzlon Group has crossed the 20GW wind energy installations milestone through 12,467 wind turbines installed across 17 countries, spanning six continents, solidifying Suzlon’s position as a significant player in the global wind energy landscape,’ according to a statement from the firm.

Since 1995, Suzlon has been developing the Indian wind energy industry in accordance with the late Chairman and much-celebrated creator Tulsi Tanti’s vision.

‘Crossing the 20GW mark is a testament to Suzlon’s dedication and expertise in the renewable energy industry,’ Suzlon Group Vice Chairman Girish Tanti told ET. Suzlon’s 20 GW is a story of bringing India to the world, with 5.9 GW of Indian wind turbines deployed all around the world.

He told ET that Suzlon’s journey from the initial 270kW turbine in 1995 to the 3 MW turbine in 2023 will continue to excite future generations.

Suzlon Energy and its subsidiaries make up the group, which has its headquarters at Suzlon One Earth in Pune.

5,900 different employees make up the group, which has a 28-year operational history.

The nation’s largest service portfolio of wind energy assets, totaling 13.9 GW, belongs to Suzlon.
