In an announcement made on Wednesday, Xiaomi India revealed its collaboration with Dixon Technologies to produce smartphones for both the domestic market and international exports.
The indigenous electronics manufacturer is also venturing into establishing a component ecosystem through its fully-owned subsidiaries, aiming to enhance the value chain of Xiaomi smartphones.
Dixon is targeting the commencement of Xiaomi smartphone production by August-September at a state-of-the-art facility spread across 320,000 square feet in Noida, currently undergoing establishment.
According to Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, this collaboration harnesses Dixon’s exceptional manufacturing capabilities and proven track record along with Xiaomi’s expertise and leadership in the Indian business ecosystem. It signifies a significant achievement within the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Following the government’s directive for Chinese handset manufacturers to collaborate with domestic manufacturers to strengthen the supply chain in India and capitalize on the production-linked incentive scheme, this partnership has emerged as a response to that call for action.
