FM Nirmala Sitharaman reviews the progress of National Monetization Pipeline

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reviewed the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) on Monday during a meeting with NITI Aayog and senior officials from several ministries. In August last year, the finance minister launched a Rs. 6 lakh crore NMP to unlock value in infrastructure assets across sectors, including power, road, and rail.

In a tweet, the finance ministry stated that “Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman heads the meeting to monitor the development of the National Monetization Pipeline in New Delhi today.” The total asset pipeline under NMP over the next four years is estimated to be around Rs 6 lakh crore. The estimated amount is 14% of the Center’s proposed outlay under the National Infrastructure Pipeline (Rs 43 lakh crore).

The government exceeded the year’s objective of Rs 88,000 crore by concluding transactions worth Rs 96,000 crore under the NMP in 2021—22 last year.
