As per a recent notification from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) on March 22, GAIL (India)’s unified tariff for natural gas pipelines is set at Rs 58.61 per metric million British thermal units (MMBtu).
Starting from April 1, 2023, the updated tariff will take effect, which represents a substantial increase of 45% over the current tariff.
This comes after PNGRB proposed a 41% increase for the state-owned gas distribution company earlier this month, at Rs 60.92/MMBtu.
Afterwards, the oil sector’s regulatory authority hosted an open house session to gather input from stakeholders on GAIL’s unified pipeline tariff.
PNGRB also implemented a unified natural gas pipeline tariff in November 2022 to make natural gas accessible at reasonable and competitive rates, particularly in remote regions.
At around 9.48 AM, GAIL India was trading 0.57% lower at Rs104.60, against the previous close of Rs105.40 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of Rs105.25 and Rs101.90 respectively.
