Boom Technology, a startup in the aviation industry, claims that it would use engines developed by a company better known for producing small engines used on drones and cruise missiles to power supersonic passenger jets.
The engines will be designed by Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT) with assistance from GE Additive, a branch of General Electric.
According to Boom, the aircraft might conduct test flights in 2026 and begin carrying passengers a few years later.
According to the business, its Overture 88-seat jet will have four engines, reach a top speed of 1,300 mph, or 1.7 times the speed of sound, and run on sustainable aviation fuel.
Concorde was not financially viable or environmentally friendly due to its ambitious schedule and conviction that supersonic passenger flights could be financially viable and environmentally friendly; thus, the Denver firm is met with skepticism in the aviation community.
