Hero Moto, HPCL partner to establish charging infra for EVs in India

21 Sept 2022 , 09:33 AM

Hero MotoCorp, the world's biggest motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna Company in the Oil & Gas Sector, have formed a partnership to build Electric Vehicles (EVs) charging infrastructure in India.

As part of the plan, the corporations will build charging stations for two-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs) around the country, accelerating mass mobility's transition to an electrified future.

This partnership between Hero MotoCorp and HPCL emphasizes their efforts to enable a successful transition of mass transportation to EVs while ensuring long-term solutions.

The two firms will first create charging infrastructure at HPCL's current state-wide network of energy stations, with the possibility of later widening the relationship for further revenue prospects.

Charging stations will be installed in select cities in the first phase, then expanded to additional significant markets with the goal of developing a high-density EV charging station network across the country, said the company on Tuesday.

Hero MotoCorp will be in charge of developing the charging network's infrastructure. Each charging station will include several smart and fast chargers, as well as DC and AC chargers for all two-wheeled EVs. A Hero MotoCorp Mobile App, based on a cashless transaction paradigm, will handle the complete user charging experience.

The powerful and remarkable HPCL energy station network will significantly accelerate the chances to broaden the breadth of operations and services.
