A pilot project to offer telemedicine services for livestock health and safety will shortly be launched by the NITI Aayog in response to mounting worries regarding the emergence of lumpy skin disease (LSD), which has caused the mortality of cattle in numerous states.
In the trial, which will be implemented in Gujarat and Uttarakhand, telemedicine will be used to deliver services including real-time consulting on immunization, artificial insemination, medicine, health education, and livestock insurance.
As the government works to quickly provide health services to cattle and prevent the spread of such infectious diseases while ensuring their timely immunization, it will be tested before being implemented nationwide, a senior government official reportedly told ET.
According to the report, a framework and guidelines have been created for using telemedicine on cattle.
Although the Aayog has been working on telemedicine for cattle for a while, the roll-out was postponed because of the Covid-19 epidemic.
