With the Budget 2022 outcomes behind us, the Indian markets extended their bearish tone on Friday as well in broader volatile markets.
Auto, banking and realty stocks weighed majorly on benchmarks Sensex and Nifty 50. While metal stocks outperformed and limited the losses in the overall markets. Focus has now shifted to inflation, interest rates and corporate earnings.
Sensex settled at 58,644.82 lower by 143.20 points or 0.24%. Nifty 50 at 17,516.30 below 43.90 points or 0.25%.
Midcap and Smallcap stocks witnessed substantial profit booking. On BSE, the Midcap and SmallCap indices settled with a dive of around 170 points and 135 points.
In terms of sectoral indices, the Auto and Bankex index on BSE, dropped by 265 points and 291 points. However, the Metal index surged over 255 points.
Bulls on Sensex were - Sun Pharma, Asian Paint, Tata Steel, Ultratech Cement, L&T and HDFC Bank.
Bears on Sensex were - SBI, M&M, NTPC, Kotak Bank, Wipro and Bajaj Finserv.
