Matrimony.com launches new platform for LGBTQIA+ community, eyes for 8-15 million user market

6 Sept 2022 , 10:12 AM

Matrimony service provider has launched a matchmaking platform called "RainbowLuv" for the LGBTQIA+ community. The company is, reportedly, eyeing the 80-150 lakh user market.

Further, it also belives that the service could find better response from smaller cities where the community meetup opportunities are lesser compared to metro cities.

According to the reports, this new idea came from a member of the LGBT community who went up to the company’s chief product officer at a conference urging them to open up matchmaking for the special community.

“This young individual said that they also want a life partner and there are no avenues available for them as whatever is available online is either dubious or only talks about casual relationships and hook-ups,” Arjun Bhatia, chief marketing officer, Matrimony.com, told "Moneycontrol" mediahouse.

After seeing the demand and following many workshops with the LGBT community, the respective matchmaking industry decided to start the new platform which took about two years to launch.

Further, the company estimates that there are over 1,900 people belongs to LGBT community in the country and to provide them meaningful, trusted and safe platform, Matrimony.com on Monday rolled out ‘RainbowLuv’ and is targeting membership of 1.3 crore from the community in next three years.

On Tuesday at around 10:07 AM, Matrimony.com Ltd is currently trading at Rs703.15 per share up by Rs0.2 or 0.03% from its previous closing of Rs702.95 per share on the BSE.
