Online doctor consultation company Clinix is now owned by MediBuddy

14 Jul 2022 , 03:11 PM

On Wednesday, the digital healthcare platform MediBuddy announced that it has purchased Clinix, an online platform for medical consultations targeted at rural India, for an unknown sum.

Clinix serves the healthcare requirements of the rural population with a network spanning 20 tier 3 and tier 4 cities. The purchase of Clinix by MediBuddy would enable them to spread their services to rural India's interior and scale their operations even further.

In order to empower locals, Clinix has developed a system that teaches people how to schedule online medical appointments. Additionally, they have installed kiosks in a number of locations that effectively serve as e-clinics where people can visit a doctor online for their basic healthcare requirements with the assistance of the facilitator.

According to Satish Kannan, co-founder, and CEO of MediBuddy, "Clinix has a significant presence in rural areas, and with the help of our network and infra-tech support, we aim to further expand our reach and services and achieve our goal of covering a significant portion of the population, who have limited access to high-quality healthcare solutions."

"The doctor-patient ratio in India is extremely lopsided, and it is considerably worse in rural India. Aravind Dhulipala, co-founder and CEO of Clinix, stated that MediBuddy's cutting-edge technology and vast network would go a long way in enabling us to cover a larger spectrum of people and eliminate the gap between urban and rural areas in terms of the availability of high-quality healthcare solutions.

In the coming 12 months, MediBuddy hopes to reach 1 lakh consumers, up from the 30,000 it presently serves. The digital healthcare platform received $125 million in Series C funding in February from Quadria Capital and Light rock India, as well as participation from previous investors Bessemer Venture Partners, India Life Sciences Fund III, Rebright Partners, JAFCO Asia, TEAMFund LP, FinSight Ventures, and InnoVen Capital.

The platform intends to utilize the money generated to increase the number of services it offers, as well as to broaden its geographic and network reach. It now has a partner network of 1,800 employees and over 90,000 doctors, together with 7,000 hospitals, 3000 diagnostic facilities, 2,500 pharmacies, and a network of hospitals.
