Tumbling Tuesday! Indian Markets open gloomy; Nifty below 16,450 points

Indian Markets bleeds on Tuesday early morning amidst weak investor sentiment. Sectoral indices Nifty Auto, FMCG, Media, Bank, and Financial Services remained under pressure. All other indices marks entry in red territory.

At opening bells, Sensex was trading at 55,209.56 points, down by 0.84%. Nifty marks entry with a downside of 0.91% at 16,418.25.

At around 9.40 AM, BSE Sensex was trading 0.89% higher at 55,178.66 points. NSE Nifty was trading 0.87% down at 16,424.75 points.

ONGC (+1.43%) emerged as the top gainer with nearly 1.5% gain. Coal India (+0.77%), and Hindalco (+0.39%) gave a push to the chart. Axis Bank (+0.30%) and Cipla (+0.05%) followed the lead.

Titan Company (-3.58%) was the top underperformer with nearly 4% decline so far. Hindustan Unilever (-2.39%), Apollo Hospital (-2.36%), Asian Paints (-2.29%), and HDFC (-2.02%) shed nearly 2%.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank and Financial Services, Auto, FMCG, and IT dipped above 1%. Nifty Oil & Gas, Metal, and Pharma further dragged down the chart.

Globally, US markets remained flat as global markets sighed some relief over eased Covid-19 restrictions in Beijing. Dow Jones ended at 32,915.78 points, up by 0.049%.

Asian Markets reflected jittered investor sentiments as Shanghai SE (+0.48%), and Nikkei (+0.56%) remained in green territory. Australia ASX (-0.94%), Taiwan TSEC (-0.49%), and Hang Seng (-0.08%) remained under pressure.
