Zomato, a leading provider of food delivery services, has stopped accepting new members for its loyalty programmes Pro and Pro Plus as it strives to improve these services for both customers and merchants.
In 2020, Zomato introduced its loyalty programme, Zomato Pro. The business introduced Pro Plus in August 2021, which featured unlimited delivery in addition to other advantages.
A corporate representative confirmed to ET that it will no longer be accepting new Pro and Pro Plus members. Benefits will keep coming to current members until their subscriptions expire.
According to reports, the firm is delaying the issuance of its Zomato Edition Black credit card, which it launched in 2020 in collaboration with RBL Bank, as it assesses its entire customer loyalty programme.
The business is still experimenting with intercity meal delivery and dine-in pilots in the meanwhile. Zomato and its arch-rival Swiggy have both launched dine-in test programmes for eateries in Hyderabad, giving customers who pay for their meals using the apps significant discounts.
In June, Swiggy increased the perks of its membership programme Swiggy One by introducing discounts for its same-day grocery delivery service Instamart as well as unlimited food deliveries from any restaurant within a 10-kilometer radius.
