On Thursday, August 17, 2023, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) imposed a ban on trading for a total of 11 stocks under the futures and options (F&O) segment. The decision to put these securities under the F&O ban was triggered by them surpassing the 95 % threshold of the market-wide position limit (MWPL), as confirmed by the NSE.
Despite the ban in the F&O segment, these stocks will still remain available for trading in the cash market.

The NSE consistently updates the list of securities subject to the F&O ban on a daily basis, reflecting the dynamic nature of market conditions. This ban period is imposed when the derivative contracts related to the mentioned securities cross the 95 % limit of the market-wide position limit. The NSE takes this step to manage trading risks.
An important point to note is that no fresh positions are permitted for any of the F&O contracts associated with the stocks that are currently under the ban period set by the stock exchanges.
