A day in green for Indian equity markets

Indian markets ended the day in green today.  Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 140.05 points. Sensex ended the day, down by 478.79 points. Top gainers today were Power Grid, Coal Indiam and Axis Bank. Top losers today were Asian Paints, Adani Enterprises and Axis Bank. All the broad market indicies, except for Nifty Microcap 250, ended the day in green.

All the sectoral indicies, except for Nifty Media, ended the day in green. Nifty FMCG index was the biggest gainer today. It gained 632.20 points during the day. This indicates to some good buying in relatively safe, non-cyclical FMCG stocks. Nifty Private Bank Index gained 257 points in the day. Nifty Bank index gained 406 points. IT stocks also saw some good buying demand, as IT Index gained 225.15 points. 28 stocks touched their 52 week high today. 34 stocks touched their 52 week low.
