ACC Ltd Q4 net down -40.6% yoy at Rs280.81cr on one-time restructuring costs and deferred tax credits last year

ACC Ltd reported 1.96% yoy growth in total sales revenues for the Dec-21 quarter on consolidated basis at Rs4,226cr. On a sequential basis, the revenues were up by 12.72%.

During the December 2021 quarter, the total sales volumes of cement were slightly lower at 7.49 million tonnes compared to 7.71 million tonnes. In the case of ready mix concrete (RMC), the sales volumes were flat at 0.73 million cubic metres.

For the full year ended Dec-21, the total sales volume of cement stood at 28.89 million tonnes compared to 25.53 million tonnes last year.

Similarly, the volumes of ready mix concrete for the full year ended Dec-21 stood at 2.81 million cubic metres compared to 2.27 million cubic metres. ACC declared a dividend of Rs.58 per share entailing a total pay-out of Rs1,089cr.

For the Dec-21 quarter, the operating profits were down on a yoy basis by -4.6% at Rs398.54cr. During the quarter, the consolidated EBITDA stood at Rs556cr compared to Rs572cr in the previous quarter.

EBITDA margins stood at 13.4% in the Dec-21 quarter compared to 14.1% last year. Consolidated operating EBIT stood at Rs396cr compared to EBIT of Rs414cr in the last year. At the same time, the EBIT margins stood at 9.6% compared to 10.2% last year.

Operating margins fell on the back of higher power and fuel charges from 10.08% in Dec-20 quarter to 9.43% in the Dec-21 quarter. Operating margins were sharply lower on a sequential basis.

Net Profit after tax (PAT) for the Dec-21 quarter was down -40.56% yoy at Rs280.81cr on the back of exceptional restructuring costs in the current quarter and huge deferred tax benefits in the comparable Dec-20 quarter.

ACC took a hit of Rs.54.76cr in the latest quarter on account of restructuring costs in the quarter. ACC already had the benefit of deferred tax credit of Rs264cr in the Dec-20 quarter, which led to the sharp fall in net profits.

PAT margins tapered from 11.40% in the Dec-20 quarter to 6.65% in the Dec-21 quarter. The PAT margins were sharply lower on a sequential basis. Free cash flows improved by 14% in the quarter supported by strong working capital management.
