Actor Ranveer Singh invests in Sugar Cosmetics

The latest investment in the Indian startup scene is the Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh, who has invested in the cosmetics brand Sugar Cosmetics. The investment’s financial specifics were kept a secret.

Singh’s announcement nearly matches the $50 million in series D funding that the business raised in June of this year.

Sugar Cosmetics began in 2015 as a direct-to-consumer brand and soon expanded into offline trade in 2017. With a physical presence of 45,000+ retail contact points spread across more than 550 locations, the brand now generates yearly sales of more than Rs 550 crore.

L Catterton, A91 Partners, Elevation Capital, and India Quotient are some of the investors who are supporting SUGAR.

Actress Katrina Kaif, who invested in Nykaa, is one of the numerous stars who have backed startups. Anushka Sharma, an actor, has invested in Blue Tribe Foods and serves as its brand ambassador. Pankaj Tripathi, an actor, has invested in Krishi Network, an agritech platform. Among other startups, Alia Bhatt invested in the IIT-Kanpur-incubated Phool.
