Amazon closes its wholesale distribution business in India

Amazon announced that it was closing its wholesale distribution operation in India amid a global effort to wind up certain verticals and reduce costs.

The wholesale e-commerce website Amazon Distribution, which was formerly accessible in some areas of Bengaluru, Mysore, and Hubli, is being discontinued by the e-commerce giant.

The business previously shut down its Academy online learning and food delivery platform in India.

Amazon launched its distribution service to empower local Kirana stores, pharmacies, and department stores in the country.

Last week, Amazon said it was shutting down its food delivery business in India, a day after it announced it would shut down its edtech vertical in the country.

Amazon started its food delivery service in India in May 2020.
