The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Network has unveiled a brand-new feature that enables the revocation of a registration’s suspension.
The opportunity is available to taxpayers who file their outstanding returns upon the delivery of the GST system’s show-cause notification.
The GST Network posted on Twitter on Wednesday that there was now a “facility to commence drop action for suspension of registration at the GST site and reverse the suspension of registration.”
It was stated that prior to the implementation of this functionality, the registration of taxpayers who filed their outstanding returns but failed to react to the show-cause notice had their suspension maintained.
“Now that the pending returns have been filed, such taxpayers have the option to start drop proceedings on their own. Therefore, if a taxpayer’s registration status is suspended despite the fact that they have submitted all outstanding returns, they can lift the suspension with a single click by starting a drop proceeding “Tweeted by GST Network.
The action will offer relief to taxpayers whose registration had been suspended for an extended period of time, resulting in litigation and appearances before several courts.
