Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have teamed up for the Bharatmala Pariyojana project. They signed an MoU to develop Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) across India in September 2021.
The goal is to enhance logistics efficiency for goods moving from ports, hinterland, and the country. RVNL will handle the design, feasibility study, planning, and implementation of track connectivity for MMLPs. MMLPs are planned at 35 locations, aiming to provide modern warehousing facilities through a ‘Hub and Spoke Model.’
The MoU is valid for five years, extendable, and involves setting up project-specific SPVs. RVNL, under the Ministry of Railways, executes railway infrastructure projects and raises resources through SPVs. They have accomplished milestones in various Indian Railways projects, including electrification, new lines, and more.
