Amul, a Gujarat dairy cooperative, has announced an immediate price increase of up to Rs 3/litre on fresh milk.
Amul Gold will now cost Rs66 per litre, Amul Taaza will cost Rs54 per litre, Amul cow milk will cost Rs56 per litre, and Amul A2 buffalo milk will cost Rs70 per litre, according to a statement issued on Thursday.
The last hike made by Amul of Rs2 per litre was in October 2022.
‘Costs of milk production and operations have risen, leading to an increase in prices. Specifically, the cost of feeding cattle has skyrocketed by 20% compared to the previous year. In response to these rising input costs, our member unions have adjusted farmers’ prices by a range of 8-9% compared to the previous year,’ the statement said.
In December, the company’s major competitor Mother Dairy also raised milk prices by Rs2 per litre in the Delhi-NCR region.
