Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a Tata Power subsidiary and one of the country’s major renewable energy players, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 510 MW hybrid project with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL).
The project will save Tata PowerDDL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Delhi that provides electricity to over 7 million people in North Delhi, an average of 1540 MUs of CO2 emissions per year.
The PPA includes a capacity split of 170 MW solar and 340 MW wind power. It is one of the largest hybrid projects in the country and will be completed within 24 months of the PPA execution date.
TPREL was awarded this project after a competitive bidding process, which was followed by the release of the LOA by Tata Power-DDL. This award extends an earlier LOA of 255 MW received in December 2022.
In regards to the signing, Ashish Khanna, the CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, expressed that his company has secured a major deal by signing a PPA for a 510 MW hybrid project through a competitive bidding process.
This achievement demonstrates their readiness for the future and their competency in executing projects. This partnership is a significant step towards their goal of leading the charge in the transition to clean and sustainable energy.
TPREL’s total renewables capacity now stands at 6,303 MW, with 3,909 MW installed (Solar – 2,981 MW & Wind – 928 MW) and 2,394 MW in various stages of development.
