SALEM TEXTILES LIMITED ANNUAL REPORT 2008-2009 MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS PERFORMANCE: The turnover for the year under review, mainly conversion charges acrd other income was Rs.706.19 Lacs compared to the turnover of Rs.1.285.94 lacs for the year 2007-08. The Companys operations resulted in a net loss of Rs.175.23 Lacs in the year 2008-09 compared to the net loss of Rs.42.06 lacs in the year 2007-08. Due to non availability of adequate working capital finance, the Company could not have own production, and therefore the Company had to resort to taking conversion works. The recessionary trends in the Textile Industry continued during the year also. The static conditions in the market and the frequent power cuts affected the working of the Mill and contributed to the loss incurred by the Company. Because of 40% Power Cut imposed by TNEB from October 2008 the total production was reduced by 40% compared to last year. Mainly because of low production the Company incurred cash loss of Rs.127.24 Lacs. MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF THE OPERATIONS The management discussed and analysed the operational results for 2008-2009 and critically studied the factors that affected production, sales and profits. The management was satisfied with the efforts taken by the Company in the situation prevailed during the year 2008-09.
