Indian benchmark indices may debut today’s session with lackluster numbers. Yesterday, markets closed on a sluggish note, registering substantial losses. Sensex closed 610 points lower at 65,508. Nifty 50 closed 200 points lower at 19,523.55 points.
On the global front, Wall Street closed with marginal gains. Dow Jones ended with a gain of 116 points. Nasdaq ended 108 points higher. S&P 500 closed with an uptick of 25 points.
Asian equities are trading in mixed sentiments after a Wall Street rebound. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.13% higher. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.31% lower. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading 1.91% higher. Taiwan index is trading with a gain of 0.63%. South Korean Kospi index is trading with a marginal upside.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 1.73% lower in previous session. Nifty Bank ended 0.64% lower.
Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, Coal India, and Power Grid emerged as the top 5 gainers out of 8 rising stocks in previous session. Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, LTIMindtree, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Wipro were the top laggards.
After a recent surge, oil prices dipped in early trade on Friday as profit-taking and predictions of increased production from Russia and Saudi Arabia overshadowed estimates of good demand from China during its Golden Week holiday. In limited trade on Thursday, the rupee gained 3 paise to close at 83.19 against the US dollar.
