Equity benchmarks, including the Sensex and the Nifty, rebounded from their early losses to trade slightly higher on February 27, buoyed by gains in heavyweight stocks.
By noon, the Sensex had gained 77.35 points, or 0.11%, reaching 72,867.48, while the Nifty was up by 18 points, or 0.08%, standing at 22,140.05. Among the listed stocks, 1516 were advancing, 1701 were declining, and 77 remained unchanged.
In terms of sectoral performance, Oil & Gas, Banking, and Financial Services stocks faced downward pressure, whereas Realty, Consumer Durables, and IT stocks led the gains. Notable gainers on the Sensex included TCS, Power Grid Corp, HCL Technologies, Titan Company, and Tata Motors, while Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, SBI, M&M, and ICICI Bank were among the losers.
Broader markets exhibited a relatively flat trend amid ongoing volatility. The BSE smallcap index traded 0.17% higher than the previous close, while the BSE midcap index registered a 0.25% increase.
