The global machine tool industry continued to demonstrate resilience during FY 202526, supported by sustained investments in advanced manufacturing, automation and digital transformation across major industrial economies. According to the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association, Asia accounts for nearly 60% of global machine tool production and consumption, with China, Japan and South Korea continuing to be the leading manufacturing hubs. Europe, led by Germany, Italy and Switzerland, remains a major centre for high-precision and technologically advanced machine tools, while the United States continues to be a significant consumer driven by aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing industries.

Continued investments in electric mobility, aerospace, railways, renewable energy and semiconductor manufacturing are expected to support long-term demand for advanced machine tools. These global developments are expected to provide opportunities for Indian manufacturers to enhance technological capabilities, improve product quality and strengthen their participation in global value chains.

The global machine tool industry remained resilient during 2024 despite macroeconomic uncertainties and moderation in manufacturing activity across several economies.
