National Oxygen Limited (NOL) incorporated in December, 1974 was promoted by RajesH Kumar Saraf. Presently, the Company manufactures industrial gases both in liquid and gaseous form at plants situated at Pondicherry and Perundurai. The clients of NOL consists mainly Government workshops, Public Sector units, Space and Petrochemical units.
Also serves to Steel sector, Pharmaceutical sector, Refrigeration units, Hospitals, Ship making & Repairing units other than Fabrication sector.From 1975-80, the company was mainly trading in industrial/medical gases.In 1980, NOL installed and commissioned its first oxygen plant with a capacity of 63 cu mtr ph, at Mathur in the Pudukottai district of Tamilnadu. In 1981, it installed a dissolved acetylene plant at the same premises at a cost of Rs 20.45 lac with term loan assistance from SIPCOT. Again in the next year, it commissioned its second oxygen plant at the same premises at a cost of Rs 53.75 lac, with term loan assistance from SIPCOT.An additional plant for compressing waste nitrogen into commercial grade nitrogen, was installed in 1985.
During the same year, it went public to part finance its expansion to set up a 165-cu mtr ph capacity plant at Pondicherry. The expansion project commenced production from Sep.87.In Jul.94, the company came out with a rights issue to set up a liquid oxygen / liquid nitrogen / liquid argon tonnage plant with a capacity of 75 tpd.In 1995-96, its expansion project was completed. Later, NOL installed a Windmill with a capacity of 1.65 MW at Dhule, Maharashtra in December 2005.As part of its ongoing business strategy to optimize operations and improve operational efficiency, the Company has undertaken a rationalization of certain manufacturing facilities while serving its customers through long-term supply arrangements.
The production activities at the Perundurai Unit were permanently discontinued with effect from 12th May 2025. Further, the Liquid Manufacturing Plant and related machinery at the Pondicherry Unit were permanently closed with effect from 07th April 2026. However, the remaining operations at the Pondicherry Unit, including the Land and Building, Gas Filling Unit, and the newly established Nitrous Oxide Plant and Mathur Cylinder filling unit, is operating to manufacture products as part of the Companys ongoing business activities.
NOL is supplying Oxygen and Nitrogen in liquid and gaseous forms to Industries and Hospitals through its own sales network.
