Union Budget 2023-2024: FM announces 7 priority areas

FM Nirmala Sitharaman started the budget speech with focus on rural India. She announced that the centre will spend Rs 2lakh crore on free food grains for all priority households under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana.

Ms. Sitharaman said, “Our vision for the Amrit Kaal includes technology-driven and knowledge-based economy, with strong public finances and a robust financial sector. To achieve this ‘janbhagidari’ through ‘sabka saath, sabka prayaas’ is essential.” 

She announced 7 priority areas of the government, namely: 

  1. Inclusive Development
  2. Reaching the Last Mile
  3. Infrastructure and Investments
  4. Unleashing Potential
  5. Youth Power
  6. Green Growth
  7. Financial sector

The 7 main priorities, referred to as ‘Saptrishi,’ aim to drive sustainable and environmentally-friendly economic development.
