Prior to rejoining Razorpay, he was the chief digital officer at NPCI, where he oversaw the organization’s digital transformation strategy.
The hiring comes at a time when the business expands into the offline payments area with the purchase of POS payments startup Ezetap.
Khan, a veteran of the banking and financial services industries with over 2 decades of experience, brings skills in dealing with diverse stakeholders and a thorough grasp of the business. Prior to this, he held leadership positions in NPCI, MasterCard, and HDFC Bank, among others.
During his association with Razorpay between 2017 to 2019, he contributed to numerous significant initiatives and helped in the overall development of the company’s comprehensive business architecture.
Furthermore, he played an important role in establishing strong external stakeholder relationships and laying the groundwork for the firm’s banking services. He also served as a senior business leader at Mastercard, where he was responsible to drive development of the company’s payment gateway platform and Mastercard’s ‘Simplify Commerce’ initiative.
Khan will oversee the firm’s banking, risk management, regulatory affairs, and public policy teams toward the more significant organizational aim of fine-tuning the company’s services in the digital payments area during his second term as CIO.
