Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), a state-owned entity, won a significant contract from NTPC Ltd., another public sector company. The project entails the development of a 3×800 MW supercritical thermal power plant (Telangana Stage-II).
BHEL’s responsibilities cover the complete scope of work, including design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and civil construction. NTPC issued a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) to BHEL, allowing the company to begin the initial engineering phases of the main plant package.
This project further strengthens BHEL’s long-standing role in India’s thermal power sector, with the company contributing to more than 57% of NTPC’s thermal installations.
BHEL has installed a substantial 1,68,000 MW of utility power capacity nationwide, reinforcing its position as a major player in power infrastructure. This contract underscores BHEL’s continued partnership with NTPC, aligning with India’s increasing energy demands.
BHEL’s extensive experience in the power sector makes it well-suited for delivering on the comprehensive requirements of this project, which supports the nation’s goal of energy expansion through advanced thermal power solutions. The Telangana Stage-II project will further enhance India’s power generation capabilities, boosting infrastructure and supporting regional energy needs.
