On 25th November 2024, Additional Commissioner CGST Commissionerate Chandigarh issued a demand order for an amount of ₹320.6 crore along with interest against Dabur India Ltd.
A claim of demand relates to IGST under Section 20 of the IGST Act, 2017 and corresponding provisions of the CGST and State GST Acts. This is in the wake of an ongoing review by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence related to Dabur’s tax compliance.
The order confirms demand but makes exclusion of penalty referred to in the earlier notice dated October 2023. Dabur is reviewing the order and contemplating legal action. The company clarifies that the order will not impact its operations, and the financial impact would be limited to tax liability plus applicable interest.
