State-owned NALCO achieved a record production of cast metal, totaling 4,63,428 metric tonnes during the fiscal year 2023-24. Additionally, NALCO reported its highest-ever metal sales, reaching 4,70,108 metric tonnes by the end of the fiscal year ending on March 31.
The excavation of bauxite also reached a peak, hitting 7,600,230 metric tonnes during the financial year 2023-24. NALCO emphasized that it has surpassed all previous production records since its establishment.
NALCO CMD Sridhar Patra attributed these achievements to the company’s dedication, hard work of employees, and cooperation from various stakeholders. The company’s alumina refinery produced 21,24,000 metric tonnes of alumina hydrate, while the captive power plant generated 7,193.62 million units of power during the year.
During FY 23-24, NALCO developed and operationalized the Utkal D coal block, producing 2 million tonnes of coal, matching the mine’s peak-rated capacity. NALCO operates under the Ministry of Mines and is recognized as India’s leading manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium.
