The state-owned NHPC said on Tuesday that it intends to finish the projected 1,200 MW solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh, which would cost ₹796.96 Crore, in two years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed the solar project’s foundation stone virtually on Monday. According to an exchange filing, NHPC’s subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd, would build the Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park in Orai, Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh, for ₹796.96 Crore.
NHPC stated that the park is planned to be built within 24 months from the approval of investment and is expected to produce approximately 2,400 million units (MUs) of electricity annually.
The NHPC, which is part of the Ministry of Power, is India’s largest hydropower development body, capable of carrying out all activities from conceptualization to completion of hydroelectric projects.
The Faridabad-based firm has also ventured into solar and wind energy development.
At around 10.56 AM, NHPC was trading 0.97% lower at ₹91.55, against the previous close of ₹92.45 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of ₹95.50 and ₹90.80, respectively.
