French drugmaker Sanofi has partnered with AI company OpenAI and tech-driven pharmaceutical firm Formation Bio to enhance drug development using AI-powered software. The collaboration aims to integrate data, software, and tuned models to create custom solutions for the drug development process.
Paul Hudson, CEO of Sanofi, emphasized that customized AI models will be crucial in shaping the future of drug development and providing innovative treatments.
Sanofi plans to use this partnership to access proprietary data and develop AI models, aspiring to become the first biopharma company powered by AI at scale. OpenAI will provide access to advanced AI capabilities, including model fine-tuning, deep AI expertise, and dedicated partnership resources.
Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, highlighted the potential of AI to accelerate drug development and bring new medicines to market.
Formation Bio will contribute extensive engineering resources, experience at the intersection of pharma and AI, and its tech-driven platform to implement AI technologies across the pharma lifecycle.
