“The Tata Group has approached Bisleri for a stake acquisition, which it hopes to expand up in the future, and is quite keen on the business,” stated people aware of the development.
The Tatas would have a large footing in packaged drinking water throughout the entry-level, mid-segment, and luxury packaged water categories as a result of this.
Tata Consumer, which sells Tetley tea, Eight O’Clock coffee, Soulfull cereals, salt, and pulses in addition to owning Starbucks cafés, is aggressively considering strategic acquisitions, according to CEO Sunil D’Souza in recent post-earnings analyst calls.
He further stated that inorganic expansion will be a “major aspect” of the company’s growth plan. Tata Consumer has its own bottled water company, NourishCo, although it is a niche one.
“The Tatas are willing to acquire stake either through Tata Consumer or at the corporate level,” mentioned the sources.
According to its website, Bisleri has over 150 manufacturing sites and a network of over 4,000 distributors with 5,000 vehicles across India.
Bisleri International sells luxury Vedica Himalayan spring water in addition to mineral water, which it leads under the Bisleri brand franchise.
