Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have awarded contracts totaling ₹11,481 Crore to local contractors and suppliers, according to an official statement.
Over the past three years, since Tata Power and the Odisha government established joint ventures, these Discoms have issued orders worth ₹8,690 Crore to local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and ₹2,791 Crore to non-MSMEs.
The awarded contracts fall into two main categories: materials and services.
The Discoms involved—TP Central, TP Southern, TP Northern, and TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited—have engaged with 6,645 local vendors and suppliers.
In the service sector, which includes meter reading, billing, and network maintenance, contracts totaling ₹7,560 Crore have been awarded to 4,347 vendors.
For materials supply, which encompasses distribution transformers, cables, poles, and other components, 2,298 contracts valued at ₹3,921 Crore have been issued.
Materials contracts include crucial items such as distribution transformers, cables, poles, low tension (LT) and high tension (HT) hardware, laptops, and desktops.
Service contracts cover activities like meter installation, billing, collection, call center operations, meter reading, and administrative roles including housekeeping and catering.
Tata Power’s initiative supports the “Make in Odisha” vision and significantly contributes to local economic development, enhancing the prosperity of regional communities.
