Adani Group intends to build 10 gigawatts of international hydroelectric projects over the next five years, according to news reports, which will help the conglomerate meet its net zero carbon emissions target by 2050.
Gautam Adani stated in 2022 that the organisation would invest $100 billion over the following decade to build green energy capabilities, including the establishment of the world’s largest solar energy park in western India.
The consortium is looking into developing hydroelectric projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Kenya, Tanzania, the Philippines, and Vietnam, according to the reports.
While the group’s primary focus is on developing pumped hydro storage in India, it is also drawn to countries with good topography and hydropower demand.
According to the company’s website, the Adani Group operates 11.2 GW of renewable energy projects and plans to increase this capacity to 50 GW by 2030.
