Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), has given Thales an agreement to boost passenger experiences and optimize airport operations nationwide.
Millions of travelers will experience smoother travel thanks to Thales’s Fly to Gate solution, which was already deployed at seven AAHL airports in early 2024, the companies announced in a joint statement on Wednesday. By enabling pre-enrolled travelers to employ face recognition technology, this system can reduce the requirement for boarding passes and ID checks at several points in the travel process, as well as shorten passenger processing times by up to 30%.
Now, AAHL has given Thales a second contract to implement the Airport Operation Control Center (APOC) system across all of its airports. The deal’s value was not revealed.
Using automation, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, this cloud-based platform will collect operational data from airport systems to enhance overall management, security, and passenger flow. The goal of the APOC solution is to boost productivity by anticipating and resolving resource constraints.
According to Ashish Saraf, Country Director of Thales for India who talked to ET, these technologies would support India’s ambition to become the largest aviation market in the world by 2047 and help streamline airport operations.
In line with India’s goal of a digital future, the government-led project DigiYatra, which uses facial biometrics to confirm passenger identity, is crucial to this process. The following seven AAHL airports have this technology: Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Jaipur.
