Gensol Engineering announced the completion of a 10.6 megawatt (MW) rooftop solar project in Madhya Pradesh. The bi-facial solar plant is located at Trident Ltd’s Budhni textile factory in Madhya Pradesh.
According to Gensol Engineering, the plant, which has over 20,000 solar panels, is estimated to offset around 11,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
A bi-facial solar system consists of a solar panel that collects sunlight from both surfaces and generates power on both sides.
Ali Imran Naqvi, CEO of Gensol’s EPC Business, commented, “This initiative stands as one of the world’s five largest rooftop solar endeavors, boasting a rooftop area surpassing 70,000 square meters.”
Gensol Engineering reported an EPC order book of more than ₹1,000 Crore.
The engineering company is a part of the broader Gensol group of companies that provide EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services for the building of solar power facilities. It has also set up an electric vehicle (EV) production unit in Pune.
Gensol is India’s biggest independent operator of solar assets. As an independent operator, the company provides operation and maintenance services for solar power projects regardless of manufacture, technology, EPC, or IPP.
At around 10.45 AM, Gensol Engineering was trading 3.41% higher at ₹909.50, against the previous close of ₹879.55 on NSE. The counter touched an intraday high and low of ₹914.90, and ₹881.35, respectively.
