GMR Airports logs 9% passenger traffic growth in October

GMR Airports Ltd recorded growth in October 2024, carrying more than 10.7 million passengers, representing a 9.2% year-on-year (YoY) rise. This includes a 9.2% YoY increase in both domestic and international traffic. 

Since December 2023, monthly traffic numbers have consistently exceeded 10 million passengers. Aircraft movements increased 9% year on year and 7% month on month to 71,598.

GMR Airports saw its highest-ever passenger traffic of 74 million and aircraft movements of 0.48 million in FY25. Cargo handling also set records, with 0.65 million tonnes handled, a 14.8% increase year on year. Since September 2024, more than one lakh tonnes of cargo have been processed per month.

Hyderabad Airport reached a milestone in October 2024, carrying 2.4 million passengers, representing a 21.7% rise year on year. Domestic traffic surged by 22.7%, while overseas traffic rose by 16.3%.

The airport saw its biggest single-day passenger traffic of 0.87 lakh on October 14 and the highest single-day aircraft movements of 583 on October 20. Monthly passenger traffic has continually exceeded two million since October 2023.

Delhi Airport saw 39,000 aircraft movements in October 2024, the most in five years, contributing considerably to the network’s overall development.

The airport underwent expansion construction, boosting passenger capacity from 4.4 million to around 7.7 million per year. In October, new apron stands, aerobridges, and baggage handling equipment went into service, significantly improving infrastructural capacities.
