Maruti Suzuki India said on Sunday that total sales in August fell 4% year on year to 1,81,782 units. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) stated in a statement that it shipped 1,89,082 cars in the same month last year.
Total domestic passenger vehicle wholesales were 1,43,075 units this month, down 8% from 1,56,114 units the previous year, the report said.
Sales of small cars, including the Alto and S-Presso, fell to 10,648 units last month from 12,209 in august 2023.
Compact car sales, which included the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, fell 20% to 58,051 units, down from 72,451 the previous year.
Last month, utility vehicles like the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx, and XL6 sold 62,684 units, up from 58,746 the previous month.
Eeco sales were 10,985 units last month, down from 11,859 units in august 2023, while light commercial vehicle Super Carry sales were 2,495 units, down from 2,564 units the previous year.
MSI said that its exports increased to 26,003 units last month, compared to 24,614 units the same month last year.
