Patanjali Ayurved issues an “unqualified apology” to the Supreme Court for misleading advertisements and criticism of modern medicine.
The Supreme Court directed Patanjali Ayurved and its managing director Acharya Balakrishna to personally appear before it regarding the contempt notice and misleading advertisements about medicinal cures.
In an affidavit, Patanjali Ayurved apologizes for breaching the statement recorded in the court’s order of November 21, 2023.
The affidavit assures that such misleading advertisements will not be issued in the future and clarifies that the intention is to promote healthier living through Ayurvedic products.
Earlier, on February 27, Patanjali Ayurved was banned from advertising medicines with “misleading claims” during a Supreme Court hearing.
The court had criticized the Centre for not taking action while the country was misled.
Contempt of court notices were issued against Patanjali Ayurved founder Baba Ramdev and MD Acharya Balkrishna for flouting previous court orders.
The company’s counsel had previously assured the court of no further violations and no release of casual statements against any system of medicine.
