Power Grid said on Monday that it has signed a MoU with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (RRVPNL) to create a joint venture to carry out intra-state transmission projects worth ₹10,000 Crore. According to a BSE filing by Power Grid Corporation of India, the planned joint venture will carry out the projects in Rajasthan in stages. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on March 10, 2024.
According to the filing, Power Grid would own 74% of the joint venture, with RRVPNL owning 26%.
Power Grid is a central public sector initiative under the administrative direction of the Ministry of Power, primarily engaged in the transmission of bulk power among states.
Power Grid primarily operates a power transmission network using EHVAC/HVDC technology. The company has expanded into the telecom market by using its Pan-India transmission network via optical ground wire (OPGW).
Power Grid has provided/is delivering consultation services to domestic and international customers by utilising its competence and experience in the fields of electricity transmission, sub-transmission, distribution management, load dispatch, and communication, among others.
RVPN delivers power across Rajasthan. RVPN owns, constructs, maintains, and manages the high-voltage electric transmission network that keeps the lights on, companies functioning, and communities healthy. RVPN also owns the joint-producing projects as a representative of the former RSEB.
