State-Run SJVN Aims for ₹4,000 Crore Revenue Boost, Plans 2,900 MW Capacity Addition

22 Mar 2024 , 10:07 AM

SJVN Ltd., a state-run hydropower projects developer and operator, aims to boost its revenue by ₹4,000 Crore over the next two fiscal years, according to Geeta Kapur, the company’s Chairman & Managing Director.

The company targets revenue increments of ₹2,700 Crore in FY 2025 and an additional ₹1,000 Crore to ₹1,500 Crore in FY 2026.

In FY 2023, SJVN reported revenue from operations amounting to ₹2,938 Crore. Geeta Kapur outlined the revenue projection strategy, stating that they anticipate adding around ₹2,700 Crore in FY 2024-2025 and an extra ₹1,000 Crore to ₹1,500 Crore in FY 2025-2026. These projections are attributed to the implementation of 2,000 MW in renewable energy projects with tariff ranges from ₹2.50 to ₹3 per unit.

SJVN plans to augment its capacity by 1,176 MW over the next two years. Currently, it operates hydro capacity of 1,972 MW and renewable capacity of 404 MW. Additionally, 2,000 MW of solar projects are slated for commissioning in September 2024, contributing to SJVN’s goal of adding 2,900 MW in capacity in the next fiscal year.

Major projects contributing to this capacity expansion include the commissioning of the 1,000 MW Bikaner project by September or October and the 900 MW Arun 3 project, both of which, along with various smaller projects, are set to increase SJVN’s capacity by 2,900 MW in FY 2024-2025.

The Arun 3 project, under construction in Nepal, is scheduled for commissioning in February 2025, expected to boost SJVN’s revenue by an additional ₹1,200 Crore.

SJVN’s Buxar project, currently underway, is also progressing as scheduled and is expected to be commissioned in September 2024.

Recently, SJVN signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop 5,000 MW renewable energy projects in Maharashtra.
