Zee Media Corporation Ltd said on Monday that its CEO, Abhay Ojha, has been sacked with effect from May 4, 2024. In a regulatory statement, the company stated that its Board of Directors agreed and confirmed the termination of Ojha’s employment with the organisation, as well as his subsequent termination as Chief Executive Officer, effective May 4, 2024.
The statement in the filing mentioned that Abhay Ojha has stopped serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the company due to the termination of his employment. However, the company did not provide further details regarding the reasons behind his termination.
Ojha was named to CEO of the company last year. He joined Zee Media in 2022 as Chief Business Officer and P&L head for linear channels (excluding WION and Zed Business). He was eventually promoted to CEO in 2023.
Piyush Choudhary, Zee Media’s Chief Manager – Legal, resigned last month, effective April 30, 2024.
Idris Loya assumed the post of interim CEO. Previously, he served as Essel global’s global chief technology innovation officer. Loya has also worked for other organisations, including Sony Electronics (Singapore) Pte. Ltd, Samtek Semicon Devices, the New Delhi Liaison Office, and Conimp Business Consulting.
