Punjab to get a new BMW auto part manufacturing unit

14 Sep 2022 , 11:49 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s efforts to entice large investments from Germany paid off on Tuesday, as automaker BMW decided to establish an auto part manufacturing plant in the state. During the Chief Minister’s visit to the BMW headquarters, the company took this decision.

During the visit, Mann highlighted the Punjab government’s efforts to develop industry in the province, following which BMW decided to establish an auto component factory in the state.

Mann, who is overjoyed, stated that this will be the company’s second unit in India, with one currently functioning in Chennai.

He claims that this will significantly boost the state’s economic growth and will offer new avenues for young employment.

The Chief Minister also invited BMW to collaborate with the state on e-mobility.

He was briefed that e-mobility is a significant priority area for the automaker, which aims to have 50% of its worldwide sales comprised of completely electric vehicles by 2030 under the direction of Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG, Oliver Zipse.
