According to a release issued on Monday, the Common Service Centre (CSC) will collaborate with October Cinemas to open 500 movie theatres by the end of March 2023.
According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between CSC and October Cinemas, the goal is to establish 1 lakh movie theatres with a maximum capacity of 200 patrons each in rural areas.
“Around 1,500 movie theatres will be open across India by the end of 2023. These movie theatres, which can hold 100 to 200 people, will also serve as a focal point for numerous CSC events in rural areas, according to a CSC press statement.
The CSC was established as a business under the Companies Act of 1956 and serves as a special-purpose vehicle for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
It was first established as a service centre to assist passengers with booking tickets for trains, buses, and flights as well as registering for different government services. However, CSCs have grown their network over time to offer services including completing passport applications and offering financial services.
