According to recent reports, Tata Group may set up a major electric car battery plant in Somerset, UK. The said plant has the capability to generate thousands of job opportunities.
According to the BBC, Tata Group, Jaguar Land Rover’s parent company, is working to finalise an agreement that would see the United Kingdom triumph over Spain to establish the factory.
The development represents a significant milestone for the automotive sector in the United Kingdom, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and investment in the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) industry.
While the agreement is yet to be signed, negotiations have progressed to the point of drafting one.
The proposed Bridgewater plant can create approximately 9,000 jobs, giving a significant boost to the local economy.
Reportedly, Tata was looking to set up a site in Spain, which, unlike the UK, is a member of the European Union.
This development comes after Stellantis, one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, warned that without changes to the Brexit deal, its commitment to producing electric vehicles in the UK could be jeopardised, potentially leading to factory closures.
