Tata Power Renewable Energy Commission's 110 MW Solar Energy Project in Rajasthan

6 Jun 2023 , 09:39 AM

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has successfully commissioned a 110 MW solar energy project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project aims to supply 110 MW of green power to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), contributing to Kerala’s green energy requirements.

TPREL is a leading player in the renewable energy sector and has established itself as a key contributor to India’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.

The Bikaner solar project is considered one of the fastest commissioned projects in Rajasthan, showcasing TPREL’s skilled team, advanced technology, and experienced leadership. The project is expected to generate approximately 211 million units (MU) of green electricity annually, effectively reducing the carbon footprint by 258,257 metric tonnes (MT) per year.

To achieve this, the project utilized 259,272 mono-bifacial PERC half-cell modules, showcasing TPREL’s dedication to leveraging advanced technology for maximum energy generation. Despite facing various challenges, including adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, sandstorms, and geopolitical challenges, the project was completed within seven months.

With the commissioning of the Bikaner project, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity reaches an impressive 6,788 MW. This includes an installed capacity of 4,047 MW in solar energy (3,106 MW) and wind energy (941 MW), with an additional 2,741 MW under various stages of implementation.

The successful completion of the project underscores Tata Power’s position as a significant player in the renewable energy sector in India. The project exemplifies Tata Power’s commitment to driving a cleaner and greener India and showcases the vast potential of solar energy in meeting the country’s power needs.
